Just a few minutes south of Tamarindo, the pace slows down. Playa Langosta is known for its upscale homes, calm atmosphere and something very rare in Costa Rica: titled beachfront condominiums.
A stretch of oceanfront homes here is known locally as the "millionaire's mile," and two condo buildings sit directly on the sand: Crystal Sands and Horizontes del Mar. Downtown Tamarindo is only about four minutes away.
Communities in Playa Langosta
Tamarindo Preserve (Punta San Francisco). A gated community with residential lots and several finished homes, with access to both Tamarindo and Langosta beaches. A recent 333 m² lot was listed at $349,000 with an HOA of about $100 per month.
Crystal Sands. A resort of 20 titled beachfront residences with underground parking, a large resort pool, owner storage and a private beach path. A three-bedroom unit built in 2012 sold for $989,000, with an HOA of about $802 per month.
Horizontes del Mar. A 20-unit, 3.5-story beachfront complex. A two-bedroom unit was listed at $449,000, with an HOA of about $436 per month.
Other condo complexes. Peninsula (Tower 1 built in 2004, Tower 2 in 2020, on the beach), Esquina Resort (2006, across the street from the beach) and Cerca del Mar (2006, colonial style, each unit with its own private pool).
Playa Langosta is for buyers who want beachfront or near-beach living with a quieter feel than Tamarindo, just minutes from town.
